The Sony PlayStation Vita launches in just a few months in Japan, but for those who can’t wait until early next year to buy Sony’s spiff new handheld we’ve got good news to share. Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, has confirmed that the PlayStation Vita is region free.

While this is good news for importers the 3G version of the Japanese Vita is being serviced by a domestic provider. Something to think about if you want to do more than just play games on an imported system.
